Session 6E: Tall Timber: Asia, Australia & Africa

22 October 2018
11:15 AM – 12:45 PM

Asia has been the epicenter of tall building activity for more than a decade, and there is growing interest in using its long traditions of woodworking as part of a more sustainable approach to building high-rises. Australia has erected a number of successful commercial and residential timber high-rises, but progress has been slowed by a lack of production capacity on the continent. Africa has bountiful forests, a booming population in acute need of quality housing, and limited infrastructure. Three presentations will focus on the state of practice in these regions.
