Session 6C: Engineering the Skybridge: Technical Aspects

22 October 2018
11:15 AM – 12:45 PM

Many of the considerations that go into engineering a skyscraper must be rethought when a skybridge between two skyscrapers is introduced. Skybridges can perform critical structural roles, but this must be balanced with the demands of occupation and programming. The impetus to construct an extraordinary feature must be counterbalanced with the role of skybridge as an evacuation route, or as a separately conditioned space. This session takes account of the technical challenges, and potential resolutions of skybridge design.
