Aldar Properties, Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is an emirate of islands, which have recently seen a wave of development, capitalizing on their natural assets in close proximity to the city’s historic core. This presentation covers the overall strategy for, and differentiation between the islands under control of Aldar Properties. Yas Island is a burgeoning entertainment and recreation district, with Ferrari World, Yas Marina, and Yas Waterworld, and the largest shopping mall in Abu Dhabi. Reem Island is home to one of the emirate’s architectural landmarks, the skybridge-linked Gate Towers at Shams Abu Dhabi. The development also includes the Arc at Gate Towers, a 991-unit building with apartments arrayed in a unique arch-link design; and the sun and Sky towers, 74- and 65-story mixed-use and residential towers, respectively.
More than just a collection of developments, Reem Island has made a significant investment in establishing a fully-fledged urban community, which will be anchored by Reem Central Park, offering 93,000 square meters of outdoor space, including green areas, a skate park, a climbing wall, a mosque, a public beach, cafes and restaurants. At Meera, also on Reem Island, two symmetrical, 204-unit towers are under construction, offering bespoke living in a range of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The buildings are intersected by a public garden and are in easy walking distance of Shams Park, Shams Beach, Shams Marina and the pedestrianized canal network. A new island, Al Lulu, has been created in anticipation of further development. Much more is in store.
